It might be hard to believe, but Pixel Perfect is only a few months away from turning one year old! In April we will have officially been online for an entire year, bringing you the best, news, reviews, previews, interviews and more!
But beyond congratulating ourselves, we really want to take a moment to thank you, our readers, for being so awesome and coming back day after day to see what we have to offer.
Now, if you haven't listened to last week's Between The Pixels, our First Annual Video Game Awards podcast, you really should check it out.
Why, you ask? Well besides the incredible feat that is a seven-man podcast, where we discuss all of our likes and dislikes from the industry in 2011, near the end I offer up a sneak peek of some of the things we want to accomplish at Pixel Perfect in the coming year.
Odds are, if you check in frequently, you're already a big fan of our Between The Pixels podcast, our weekly New Low Score webcomic and can, at the very least, tolerate our resident Rage Quitter's weekly rants. It is featured, weekly content like this that we love bringing you all, and we have some really excellent new ideas planned for this year.
We also like to do contests.
Over Black Friday last year we gave away an Xbox 360 S with a 4GB HD, a Kinect with Kinect Adventures, 1600 Microsoft points and a whole year of Xbox Live. We've also given our readers an opportunity to ask gaming celebs like Ellen McClain (voice of GLaDOS) and her husband John Patrick Lowrie (voice of The Sniper from Team Fortress 2) questions, and the best ones got autographed photos of the stars, too. Being gamers ourselves, we know how much you all like to win free stuff, and we have some pretty awesome ideas coming up this year!
But beyond all else, we want to ensure that we can bring you all the highest quality games journalism possible, for as long as possible. As fun as it is, it isn't easy.
| A truer sign of love, the world is yet to see. |
However, we have reached a crucial point as we slowly approach our first birthday, and this is where we turn to you, dear readers, for your support.
If you haven't noticed yet, on the right side of our page, under our Twitter feed, is a "Donate" button that links back to Pixel Perfect's Fund Drive hosted by GoFundMe. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of April, and this $5,000 will go to a number of efforts we are currently headlong into or just starting.
Some things that your donation will help us with:
- Administrative costs (e.g. Web hosting, legal services),
- Enhancing our podcast abilities,
- Increasing our presence at key trade shows, like E3 or PAX, to help us bring you the most up-to-date coverage of the game industry,
- Improving the website to best present our content to our readers,
- Adding videos to go with our podcast, comic and weekly features,
- Purchasing high-quality exclusive content,
- And much, much more!
We couldn't have made it this far without the incredible support you have shown us over the past eight months. We know that to make it further bring you even more we need your help more than ever!
If you can please take a moment to click here or click our Donate button to the right and contribute any amount you can, even if it just some spare change you've had sitting around with nothing to do, it would be infinitely appreciated.
And if you can't donate right now, you can help out in other ways, too. Tell your friends about our website. Follow us on Twitter (@ThePixelPerfect) and on Facebook. There, you'll also get updates on our stories, early access to contests and more! Make sure to tell your friends about our GoFundMe efforts on Facebook and Twitter, too. Also, be sure to check out the Between The Pixels Archive and the New Low Score Archive and share them with your friends, so they can be caught up on all the fun!
Again, allow me to thank each and every one of you for your support. Be sure to keep coming back to Pixel Perfect for all the exciting developments we have planned for the coming year!
Sincerely,
Justin Brenis
